Walk by Grace
Regardless of whether or not you have children, you can relate to this story. All of us have, at one time or another, been involved in teaching an infant to walk. I remember teaching our children as infants. Daddy would sit across from me with his legs spread wide and his arms outstretched toward our babies. I would stand our baby in front of me and hang onto their little hands with my fingers. Daddy would clap his hands and say “come to Daddy. It’s okay, I’ve got you. I will catch you if you fall”.
This memory reminds me of how I had to learn to walk to my Abba (Daddy) Father. Abba is a Greek word which translates to Daddy in the scriptures. God wants such a walk with His children that they can easily call Him Abba (daddy).
The walk of grace must begin with a new life. See Romans 6:4b that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Once you have received the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, your journey begins. As you take the first steps with your Abba (daddy) Father, you will know that He has His arms outstretched to you.
You will hear Him say “Come on, you can do it, walk to Abba (daddy)”. Our steps come by faith. See II Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. This is where you might find yourself stumbling or dragging your feet. Abba (daddy) Father then encourages by sending help to us. See Galations 5:16 This I say then, Walk in theSpirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
After we have stumbled or even had a fall or two, Abba (daddy) Father stands us back to our feet and encourages us to try again. With consistent attempts to walk with the Lord, you will succeed. The apostle Paul declares to us in Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation
wherewith ye are called. The next step is a little less easy and you may get off track here. Abba (daddy) Father says to you Ephesians 5: 2A And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.
He calmly gives us a word of caution as we proceed in our walk through Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Just as our earthly fathers get excited when we walk to them, our Abba (daddy) Father is overjoyed with our attempts and steps toward Him. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Now our final step to reach our Abba (daddy) Father. We are almost there. Look, all of the family members are cheering you on as you step with the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk , even as he walked.
Just as a family celebrates the first steps of their babies, the family of God celebrates the first steps of a new baby in Christ.
May God receive All Glory and All Praise!
