Drought - Let it rain
This past summer, our community experienced a serious drought. There had been droughts in years past, but this was the first time in my lifetime that I truly experienced one and the effects it had on my community. Our church, along with other churches in our region, had a special prayer time during the morning service, asking God to rain on our dry, thirsty land.
The same afternoon of the service, as I was heading out to my car, I noticed it was raining! It wasn’t a normal rain; but one of those rains where it is sunny out. It only lasted for a few minutes, but I think it was God’s way of telling me he was hearing our prayers.
Later that week God enabled me to do something I had never done before. I joined a pray for rain prayer chain, where each evening I would set aside a time to pray for God to send rain. It was really a neat thing, and I was even able to meet with some of my friends and we prayed for rain together. It was a humbling experience; it made me stop and take notice, nearly every time I passed a cornfield or a farm I would say a prayer for that person.
Isaiah 45:8 (KJV) 8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
