Valentine's and Love Seem to Go Together
Below is an Article from a Dear Friend about Her Love
A few months ago I was reading a friends post on Face Book and felt compelled to have her share what she had written with our readers for Valentine's, I trust you will enjoy it as much as I did. Debbie has a special love for her husband and it shows in her writing as well as her daily actions. Thanks Debbie for sharing you are truly a blessing. Feel Free to send your responses through our contact page and we will make sure Debbie receives them. Be Blessed and Embrace Your Valentine.
“I am my
beloved's, and his desire is toward me.” -Song of Solomon 7:10
Late last year, I was standing at the front door in the semi-lit darkness of the November early morning, watching my hubby as he walked down the driveway to the car. Memories of our past years together began coming to mind in quick succession. How handsome he was then, and ever so strong! Yet even as I watched him walking down the sidewalk, hobbling slightly from knees impacted by his youthful days of playing football and baseball, I could still see that handsome and strong young man that had captured my heart. I didn't see just his silvery white hair. I could also still see long, golden locks of curl, those blue eyes, that smile- oh, that sideways, quirky, Elvis-like smile!
My heart softened as I considered what he wouldn't give to have a bit of those youthful days back once more, just to be able to keep up with life as he once did. I whispered a prayer to my Lord up above: "Please, dear Lord, give my sweet hubby the strength that he needs at his work, and let him not feel so much pain in his knees and legs as he goes about his day!" He reached his car, and turned. We gave each other a little wave goodbye, and then I watched him drive off into the cool of the early Fall morning, as my heart warmed with my love for my dear husband.
This coming March my sweet hubby and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary! Our marriage together might be different than your years with your spouse has been. Ours has definitely been tested many times, and often held strong only by our love for the Lord: through putting Him first in our lives, much prayer, and time spent reading the Bible. And in the worst of times I have found that my love is rekindled when I focus my memory on what first drew me to him. I can see him as he was, and feel the warmth in my heart in just the same way as before. In doing this, my desire is only for him, and my love has strengthened as the years go by. Then I can say as the scriptures say, “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.”
