Sovereignty of Grace
What is the meaning of sovereignty? According to Webster’s Dictionary it is a: supreme power b: freedom from external control : autonomy c: controlling influence
Every reference to God in the time before Satan’s deception of Eve, spoke of the LORD GOD with the LORD in all caps. Any time we see LORD in all caps it refers to “Yahweh” the name of God meaning master and absolute ruler. It is the name God used to explain His relationship with mankind. When Satan initially tempted Eve, he left off LORD so as to show his total disregard for the absolute rule of our God. There are 500 references in the Bible where LORD in all caps is listed. God is our absolute, sovereign ruler.
If you are submitted to your Lord God with every aspect of your life, you understand the concept of sovereignty. It never crosses your mind to question who is in control. You never have to decide who to lean on in times of trouble or who holds you when you cannot hold yourself. This comes because of the sovereignty of grace provided to each and every believer of the Lord Jesus Christ.
See Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Deuteronomy 6:4 says Hear , O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
To find ultimate peace and contentment in your life, you must submit to the One sovereign LORD God. I have found that even in times of extreme grief and sadness, I have someone I can lean on. He holds me in His compassion and makes me know He understands. My husband is not even able to do that for me. Though we share the loss of a child, we each deal with our grief in different ways.
Where do you look for your answers to life’s problems? Are you angry, grief stricken, do you have depression, anxiety, lack of self-control? Circumstances throughout our lives can land us in one, if not all, of these categories. The difference comes in whom you choose to look to for deliverance. Our sovereign LORD God declares that He is the ultimate deliverer. He promises to those that are His in Isaiah 46:4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear ; even I will carry , and will deliver you. The answer to all of our problems truly is found in Him, our sovereign LORD God, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End!
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
