Seek Out Your Internal Financial Asset
Well ladies this may be the direction you were thinking or slightly an alteration, however, if you will grant me your time and attention, you may find what you are about to read will change your lives for the better.
I want to start by saying to all those who have your finances in order, you may want to read this anyway; perhaps you will glean something you can use to help others.
How many of you would say during the holidays I love giving to my family, friends and especially those who are less fortunate.
Famous last words, "If I had, I would"! Nevertheless, generally speaking, most have not so they do not!
Find yourself in one of the statements below:
My finances are in order, I know exactly how much money I have, how much I need to live on and I have achieved the financial independents it takes to save for whatever comes my way.
We live comfortably, I keep a tight budget and have my spending to the point where it does not exceed my income, and we are on track for a comfortable future.
I work a job that pays my bills and keeps food on the table, we have a little extra but truth is if we had an emergency, I am not sure how long we could last.
I work two or more jobs to pay our bills and we still live paycheck to paycheck, with no
savings.
Then as many in this economy are saying, I do not even have a job right now and out finances are coming from friends, family and or the government!
All of us fit in one of the statements above, and all of us have found ourselves in at least two or more in our lifetimes. So the question becomes, what do we do about it, do we stay where we are or do we do something to change it.
I drive by job opening signs every day, and pass the information to people who are unemployed; then find it odd that in most cases the next time I see them they give me an excuse why that job just did not work for them. (Truth is, people only do what is inconvenient, when they can no longer access convenient. Meaning when the funds run out of their source, they will have no choice but go to work to take care of themselves).
Let’s glance at the Proverbs 31 woman for the second.
Have you ever noticed while reading Proverbs 31:10-31 (see below); she starts by working with what she has to make money, and then uses it to provide for her family, and then she gives to others?
I am not saying you should ignore the Lord when it comes to giving to others, if He leads you, then you should give all He tells you.
What I am saying is, learn to discern first, what the voice of God sounds like, by studying His character through the Word of God. Second, learn the difference between a want and a need. Last, accept the fact that the world is full of people with the spirit of expectancy, those who choose not to take care of themselves and seek out people who are willing to give them whatever they want. (Careful the study of codependency is coming up on the “Spiritual Balance” page in the near future, and you will see codependency is a two-sided problem).
Take time this week and write down all the things the Proverbs 31 woman does to increase her family’s wealth.
Ask yourself, what marketable talents do I have? After all, it is the Thanksgiving, the Christmas season and New Year’s; what could I do to increase my family’s income?
Maybe you are a baker, a candy maker, a seamstress or tailor, a craft maker, an artistic, maybe you decorate well for the holidays, perhaps you are a very good housekeeper or a cook. Of course there are always, selling ventures especially now (I have already received 9 invitations to parties selling gadgets, and it’s just November 1st , needless to
say I am focused on Balance, if I don’t need it , I don’t want it, and please don’t take it personal when I don’t show up).
What would you achieve if nothing were stopping you?
Next week we are going to look at ways to help balance our finances by first having finances. Again, if you are financially independent than encourage someone else to follow along with us for the next few weeks.
Getting your affairs in order and accepting the reality of life is critical in building a better life.
God is to be the center of all we do, and our focus should be on His Will for our lives. When we allow ourselves to get so consumed with thinking we always need more, we lose our focus on God and others. Things are not bad, things can be great, but when they mean more to you then God and others, they become bad.
When you assess your needs and wants you quickly realize your needs generally outweigh your wants tremendously; and your necessities are the things that bring you true pleasure. (Later on in “Spiritual Balance”, lesson we will discover why too much
of a good thing is a bad thing, and a cluttered home is a cluttered mind; or wherever you chose to store your treasured clutter).
Until next week, look closely at your life; are you guilty of always wanting what you do not have? Moreover, do you have so much stuff that it requires more of your attention then God would like for it to.
A women striving for a balanced life will soon gain the attributes of the Proverbs 31
Woman.
