Convictions - Morale Minority
I used to think that I could get along with almost anyone. You see I was more interested in pleasing others than I was about truly knowing God and living for Him. And when the things of this world left me feeling empty and alone, Christ reached out and lead me to something I had been searching for all along, His truth.
Since He saved me, I look at things differently. I guess you could say I’m more cautious. And in a world where things that were once considered an abomination are openly embraced, using caution is a necessity.
I look around me and wonder if others feel the same as I do. Knowing God’s truth makes me want to live my life differently. I mean I don’t want to be a hypocrite. My beliefs should affect the way I make choices as well as my day to day interactions with people. I should pray to God and ask Him to help me make the best choices, whether it be financial, spiritual, political, or physical.
I’m not perfect. I know that as long as I live on this earth I will make mistakes. But I know God doesn’t want us to live with the motto “My intentions were good.” God gave us all free will and the ability to think for ourselves. Before we make a decision, we should search out a matter using the truth of His word as a guide.
Sometimes I hear people blame our nation’s problems on those who pushed to have prayer taken out of schools. While I agree with that I think those Christians who silently stood by and looked the other way, they are just as responsible.
We should stand by our convictions, and live our lives to honor God. We should not accept the standards of this world, but hold to God’s standards. If we find ourselves in a conversation with another, who does not hold our values and beliefs we should not be on the offence, but speak the truth in such a way that they will want to know the source of our strength.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
