Resolution of Grace
Every January 1, several individuals will make New Year’s resolutions. These are a change from their past way of doing things. There are many different resolutions proposed every year, but few accomplished. How do you feel when you make a new resolution, but for whatever reason, you abandon your goals? Do you feel angry, regret, disappointment? It is difficult to follow through on any resolution that we make in our own power. But with Jesus Christ all things are possible. See Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
As we walk through life, each one of us will come to a crossroads – to either receive the grace of salvation through Christ or to reject the grace of salvation through Christ and refuse His act of reconciliation. A decision must be made. You cannot have it both ways.
Over 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a perfect and sinless life, died on a cruel cross and put our sins on His back, and then AROSE on the 3rd day to fulfill God’ requirement and plan for a perfect sacrifice.
At the point in my life when I approached these crossroads, I accepted the grace of Jesus Christ. The transformation was immediate. I became a NEW creation. The things that I once chose, no longer brought fulfillment to me. I began to desire the things of God and the people of God. God gave to me the gift of reconciliation. See II Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away ; behold , all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Every January 1, I set my resolutions (goals) that I would like my walk with the Lord to look like. In some areas of my life I can see growth from one year to the next and accomplished goals. Yet, in many other areas, I have a lot of work still yet to do to reach my goal. Without setting or writing down our resolutions or goals, you will lose sight of what you need to work on to accomplish in your daily walk with the Lord.
As we begin 2013, let this year be the year you start your journal of resolutions with Christ. Accept His free give of salvation through grace. Now is the time to resolve to be different, both inside and out! See Philippians 3:13, 14, 16 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended : but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained , let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
May God receive all Glory and All Praise!
