Shepherd of Grace
Shepherd – (figuratively) Someone who watches over, looks after, or guides somebody.
A definition of our Holy God! You can see God’s Graceful Hand as He encourages us in His Word.
Psalms 23
1 (The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.)
He watches me, looks after me and guides me no matter what time of day or night or no matter where I am. This applies to all who have called on His name for salvation. You can have this! It is free and available!
2 (He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:he leadeth me beside the still waters.)
God provides a place of rest for us. Many times you may find yourself with no place to lay down or maybe no place to live. I am telling you, God is your bed of green pastures and He will place you next to the Living Water of life one day. In Revelation 7:17 God declares that the Lamb of God which is Christ Jesus will feed you, lead you to the fountain of living waters and God, Himself shall wipe away all your tears from your eyes. This is a PROMISE!
3 (He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.)
Does anyone need restoration? How can you be restored when you lose a loved one, or when you are abandoned, or after abuse? Through the Holy Spirit God brings restoration. Jesus promised that when he was resurrected to the Father that He would send a Comforter which is the Holy Spirit. See (John 14:15-18. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you FOREVER; even the Spirt of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: BUT ye who Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be IN you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.)
4 (Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.)
When we experience a loss, it can be the most devastating experience of our life. God promises Hope through all of this in the verse. I have personally felt His presence and His comfort in my life losses You can too! Call on the name of the Lord and thou shalt be saved!
5 (Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;my cup runneth over.)
God promises protection from our enemies. I have heard it once said: “God may not always take you out of the fire, but he will always see you through the fire”. This means you WILL make it to the other side! This is your promised possession!
6 (Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.)
Eternity! Wow! It is almost impossible to imagine God’s Grace when he made a way for us to have Eternal (never ending) Life through belief in his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ!
May God receive All Glory and Praise!
