Strength by Grace
It was often said, during the time of mourning the loss of my parents and son, that I was so strong. Losing a loved one is difficult. To lose three in less than one month is beyond difficult. Yet in my heart a wave of strength arose from the faith and mercy of grace God gave me through Jesus Christ, my Lord. I speak as someone who has hope of a
future family reunion.
In reality, I was completely devastated. Yet, like David, my strength came from waiting on the Lord. See Psalm 27:13,14: 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the
Lord.
I questioned God’s reasons for taking my son away from his father and I, away from his sister, away from his sons. But as I questioned, God began to provide the answers. See, as I sought the Lord and waited on His answers, He strengthened me. He opened my heart in ways I never would have allowed before.
God provided an understanding of his devoted love toward my family. Looking back over the past two years, I can see how God’s plan was one of merciful grace.
My mother was called home first so that she would not have to endure the death of her beloved husband of 54 years. Taking my Father next so that both my parents and my husband’s parents would all four stand with their arms wide open to embrace our son as he burst through the clouds to enter his eternal home. See Psalm 28:6,7: 6 Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
So because of God’s faithfulness to His promises, I can find strength in the Lord. My new song is found in Psalm 30:11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
Place your faith and trust in the Lord today. He desires to have a relationship with you. Where does your strength come from? Anything outside of the Lord Jesus Christ will fail you!
May God receive All Glory and All Praise!
