FATIGUE - Where is Grace
When I was younger, my mother used to complain of fatigue. What in the world is fatigue? I used to tell her she just needed a nap or to rest. The truth is that some fatigue symptoms are not relieved with rest or sleep. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? I didn’t believe it then either until…..
Recently I have been experiencing extreme fatigue along with severe hypotension (low blood pressure). So severe at times, I cannot lift my legs to walk across the room. It is all I can do to work full time, care for a four year old, take care of my house, and participate in the ministries with our church.
You may think that I am crazy, but my symptoms did not start until I became more fully committed to God and to some ministry options in my life. You may even say, “I thought if you followed God all of your problems would go away”. In all actuality, the answer is that you are provided the Grace to see you through the trials or tribulations. Sometimes these trials affect your mind, as in depression, grief, anxiety, etc. Other times they may attack your physical well being as in hypertension, hypotension, cardiac problems, and or fatigue.
I have sought medical care to determine if there is a true medical reason for my symptoms so you do not need to contact the director of the website to report me as an emergency case. In all seriousness, God wants us to be diligent about taking care of the temple (body) He gave to us to reside in this side of glory.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye know that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
I am reminded of a man named Job. He experienced the loss of his entire family, wealth, and then his health. Read the book of Job for the entire story. I will focus on a few snips of the story to relate to you how we as God’s children should handle these afflictions to our bodies.
1. Remain faithful in times of affliction– II Corinthians 4:1 Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not: II Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not: but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
2. Praise Him in times of affliction – Psalm 100:1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
3. Trust Him in times of affliction- Psalm 91 You will need to read the complete chapter to understand why I am trusting in God to see me through this trial. He has given me the promise of Psalm 91 to know that He is in control and holds my hand.
Many times I have heard individuals relate their trials and tribulations to that of Job. I do not, in any way, liken what I have experienced to be a fraction of the grief and affliction he endured. We all have stories of trials and tribulations in our lives. We all experience the loss of loved ones, loss of wealth, loss of health, loss of freedoms. It looks as if some people go through these trials with such ease and strength while others appear to be overtaken by the grief and destruction. What is the difference? It is the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and what you do with Him.
As for me I choose Christ to sustain me. II Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Isaiah 50:4-7 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. 7 For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded:
therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
May God receive All Glory and All Praise!
